Executive Board

Mr. Thomas Holland, President

This season marks Thomas' second year as president of the RYS where he brings his expertise in organizational structure and strategic planning to the organization. He has been a private business owner in the past and is currently a member of the technical staff at the Naval Surface Warfare Center. Thomas holds engineering degrees from Tennessee Technological University and Virginia Tech and is currently a PhD candidate at Old Dominion University. His wife Linda has served on the RYS board in the past as Treasurer. His daughter Kathryn plays the cello and is a senior at Randolph-Macon College majoring in Economics. His son Daniel plays several instruments, has been a violinist and oboist for the RYS for five seasons and will be attending James Madison University this fall majoring in Music Education. An amateur violinist and classical guitarist, Thomas feels that the love and appreciation of fine music is one of the greatest gifts that parents can give to their children. His personal goal for the RYS is to help it to grow into the preeminent youth orchestra organization for the greater Rappahannock area.

James Kazik, Vice President

James Kazik has been a staff arranger with The U.S. Army Band, "Pershing's Own" since 2001. He is currently composer-in-residence for the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic in Washington D.C. and a staff writer for Hal Leonard Corp. As a composer, his works, particularly those for trombone, continue to win acclaim both in the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Kazik has written several concerti and solo works, as well as various works for orchestra, brass ensemble, and wind ensemble, performed by Wind Ensembles of the University of North Texas Wind Symphony, and the University of Minnesota, Oklahoma State University, the Showa Wind Symphony, and countless others. Most recently, his wind band orchestration of his Concerto for Trombone, and Windependence Artist Series composition "Eviler Elves" were featured in the GIA series "Teaching Music Through Performance in Band".

As a trombonist, Mr. Kazik was a finalist in the 2000 Minnesota Orchestra-Zellmer Competition. He was part of the 1998 Remington Trombone choir winner and was a member of the "Bravura" trombone octet, which won 2 consecutive Downbeat Magazine awards for "Best Classical Chamber Ensemble" in 1999 and 2000.

Mrs. Julie Dymon, Secretary

This is Julie's first year serving on the RYS board, where she hopes to bring her strengths in writing and recording to the position of RYS secretary. Julie owned and operated a medical transcription business, Dymon Minds Transcription, for three years. She has also worked as an administrative professional for Faber Industries. Currently, Julie is a senior at the University of Mary Washington and due to graduate with her BLS degree in English with a concentration in creative writing in May 2011. Julie is a published poet and continues writing poetry and nonfiction. Her daughter Erin has been a cellist for RYS for three seasons and is beginning her fourth season as a rising freshman at Courtland High School. Music is a personal passion for Julie as she has played the violin since 1983 and she enjoys playing with her church band on occasion. As there was no youth symphony in this area when she was growing up, Julie is committed to helping RYS grow into a substantial organization that can fully support all youth that are interested in pursuing music education and performance.

Annamarie Bollino

Annamarie currently serves as the Fine and Performing Arts Coordinator for Stafford County Public Schools where she works with over 100 music, visual art, and drama teachers while overseeing all arts programs. She holds a Bachelor in Music Education from West Virginia University, a Master’s degree from George Mason University, and is finishing an Administration and Supervision endorsement from Virginia Commonwealth University. Annamarie has experience working with students Pre-K through the graduate level, including music education majors at American University, George Mason University, and Randolph-Macon College. In her free time, she co-directs the Stafford Regional Children’s Choir, a performing ensemble open to children ages 8-11. As a former member of a youth symphony, Annamarie understands the significant outlet RYS provides for many young musicians and wishes to further nurture and grow RYS as a leading organization in the region.
